So this morning we woke up at 5am... again... well at least i did. but we stayed in bed until about 7:30 and then decided that Saturday mornings should be American breakfast mornings (i thought i would last and just eat chinese food.... you know, when in china do as the chinese do.. haha... didn't last!). So what is the most American thing here... McDonalds!!! and it tasted just like it does back home. They had real orange juice, mcmuffins, and then instead of apple pies they had pineapple pies, so we tried those... SO GOOD!!
then we came home and chilled for a while, waiting for our room to get cleaned (i wanted new towels..) When the cleaning lady came though she yelled at us b/c one of the towels was dirty... b/c i came home one day with dirt from the road up to my knees and used the towel to get it all off. She then informed us that because the towel was dirty we would have to pay for it (Why i have to pay for their dirt i have no idea!!!) we of course laughed it off.
Around 10 we went to an underground flea market with Kyle and Charisse (the other intern and his wife and child from BYU). it was really fun... lots of underwear though! i got 2 cute shirts (one was from Charlotte Rouse... and American store... it had the tags on it and everything. wonder if it was stolen??) but we only paid about 70 yuan for both... so like $9! i was way excited! Samuel just got some socks... lol! then they took us to the grocery store and showed us all the good stuff. we got oreos and ritz peanut butter crackers! very very exciting. then we found Peanut butter! YAY!!! but they showed us what yogurt to buy,and what ramen was good and some other things as well. so i was relieved that now i know what to buy at the crazy supermarket! we got a lot of food, (oreos, 3 different crackers, chopsticks, bowls, bread, peanut butter, 6 yogurt drinks, 2 OJs 4 cans of pop, and some food for lunch at a little shop they had in the grocery store and only spent 120 yuan ($15)... heck yeah!
then we came home and watched a movie on the laptop and took a nap (still getting over the crazy time change). i did get a call from samuel's korean friend though about teaching english... i will only have one student, but it is every day from 5-6 (there was another one that wanted 6-7 but i turned it down b/c samuel gets home at 6:15, and i dont want to be gone when he is home!) and so i am excited for that.... it will pay for me to go workout at the gym and dinner hopefully!
i only have 1 complaint for the day... the smoking in china!! EVERYONE SMOKES!!! i seriously thought i was going to die when we were at the restaurant we went to tonight! it made me so sick i could barely eat!
now its time for bed... Church is in the morning, so we should get some sleep!!

I am so glad your dad sent me your blog - this is so educational. I am loving reading about your adventures. Before you know it you will have China down. You hang in there!
That is so weird that so many people smoke there. Didn't they get the memo that it's not cool anymore? I'm so glad Charisse is there & that you have a student to teach. Yay! Is Charisse in your same hotel? Did you really pay for the towel!? Can't wait for you to meet your student. Have a great day!
Anna-Stick with the Oreos!! I could live for a long time on them. I read an article that Oreo's in China are different than in the USA. Is that true? It said they tried the Oreos we have and they didn't go over well so they tried again with a wafer type Oreo and it was a hit. This article even had a picture of the bag and cookie. Keep enjoying yourseld-please find your way to the post office and bring me some Chinese postage stamps. Maybe they even have some Olympic ones. I want them for my stamp collection and willbe happy to repay you for anything you get in stamps for me.
